Hey there, lovely subscribers. Welcome to the first Long Pause gift lottery. I popped all of your names into https://www.randomresult.com/ (some of you multiple times for your extra entries— thank you and happy reading!) and here are the results!
There was a fancy “ticket” system for verification, but I don’t really have the brain space to figure it out, so I grabbed a screenshot for proof and hamfistedly crossed-out e-mail addresses. Very effective. Nobody sell anyone’s e-mail, ok?
Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! I will be in touch with the winners for your addresses and will send you a small, weird painting. Everyone keep your eyes peeled and get your Bookshop receipts in before the next Lottery in February!
Now, back to watching Olympic rowing on Peacock and getting into long-winded discussions with people about it on Instagram—including commentators?? How? If you’re watching the games, drop a note about your favorite sport and what could make it better!
I’ll start: Rowing would be better if we funded programs in non-white/nonaffluent communities and removed barriers to access. There are rowers out there who would be great if only we could get them in a boat.
What’s your take?
ahh, I've been watching the rowers on the Cooper River by us (it's where the Rutgers-Camden boathouse is, and all the local high schools practice there) and thinking about you. South Jersey Rowing Club (I think) has pretty accessible (I think) learn to row clubs, and I've seen tons of kids out there, which is really fun. (I also saw a kid getting back in the boat from the water the other day, which: yikes!)
